AKS Named to KMWorld's "100 Companies That Matter In Knowledge Management"

March 2008

KMWorld, the leading information provider serving the knowledge, document and content management systems market, has announced its annual list for 2008 of the “100 Companies that Matter in Knowledge Management” to its 50,000 subscribers.  Virginia-based Applied Knowledge Sciences, Inc. (AKS) was named to the list for the first time.

AKS helps organizations and their people compete in the global knowledge economy through the sharing and growth of critical knowledge.  Drawing on their expertise in information technology, knowledge management, and human capital, co-founders Dr. Art Murray and Jeff Lesher and their team create value by helping government, commercial, and non-profit organizations transform themselves into Enterprises of the Future.

AKS’s approach is built upon principles developed and validated by over twenty years of university research and field application.  Examples of solutions offered include: aligning strategy, core capabilities, competencies, processes and technologies; developing and implementing lessons-learned systems; identifying and defining success factors, along with embedding those factors into essential human capital processes.  Supporting services include education and training, developing and implementing pilot initiatives, knowledge systems evaluation, executive coaching, and on-site change agents.

Hugh McKellar, editor-in-chief of KMWorld, offered these comments when announcing the 100 Companies list:

“We have long held that the true essence of knowledge management is an attitude, a single-minded commitment to improvement. And companies on our list simply must emphasize an abiding determination to serve their most important constituency: their customers. They must also show agile innovation combined with a full understanding of the forces that affect, and will affect, their customers.”

We are honored to be included in this prestigious list and named alongside many of our distinguished colleagues.
